Toepassingen: transportmiddelen (tanks, trailers), bouw, scheepsbouw (masten), machinebouw.
Lasbaarheid: enigszins gevoelig voor warmscheuren: daling sterkte
Lastoevoegmaterialen: 5356, 4034
Warmtebehandelingen: warmvervormen 520 -480°C / zachtgloeien 380 -420°C, tot 250°C langzaam afkoelen / oplosgloeien 525 -5400C afschrikken in water / uitharden 155 -190°C, gedurende 4 tot 16 uur

Full tempers: O
O Annealed - products achieving the required annealed properties after hot forming processes may be designated as O temper.
O1 Thermally treated at approximately the same time and temperature required for solution treatment and slow cooled to room temperature.
O2 Thermomechanically processed to enhance formability, such as required for super-plastic forming (SFP).
O3 Homogenized.

Full tempers: T1
T1 Cooled from elevated temperature shaping process and naturally aged.
T1X Cooled from elevated temperature shaping process and naturally aged. When a second digit is present it is material dependent and has no general interpretation.

Full tempers: T4
T4 Solution heat treated and naturally aged.
T42 Solution heat treated from the O or the F temper to demonstrate response to heat treatment, and naturally aged to a substantially stable condition.
T4X Solution heat-treated and naturally aged. When a second digit is present it is material dependent and has no general interpretation except for T42.

Full tempers: T5
T5 Cooled from elevated temperature shaping process and artificially aged.
T5X Cooled from elevated temperature shaping process and artificially aged. When a second digit is present it is material dependent and has no general interpretation.

Full tempers: T6
T6 Solution heat treated and artificially aged.
T62 Solution heat treated from the O or the F temper to demonstrate response to heat treatment, and artificially aged.
T651 Solution heat treated, stress relieved by stretching a controlled amount (permanent set 1.5 to 3% for sheet and plate, 1 to 3% for rolled or cold finished rod and bar, 1 to 5% for hand or ring forging and rolled ring) and then artificially aged. The products receive no further straightening after stretching.
T6510 Solution heat treated, stress relieved by stretching a controlled amount (permanent set 1 to 3% for extruded rod, bar, shapes and tube, 0.5 to 3% for drawn tube) and then artifically aged. The products receive no further straightening after stretching.
T6511 Same as T6510 except that minor straightening is allowed after stretching to comply with standard tolerances.
T652 Solution heat treated, stress relieved by compressing to produce a permanent set of 1 to 5% and then artificially aged.
T654 Solution heat treated, stress relieved by restriking cold in the finish die and then artificially aged.
T66 Solution heat treated and then artificially aged - mechanical property level higher than T6 achieved through special control of the process (6000 series alloys).
